Southern Oregon's Newest Quilt Shop Opening Soon!

I am the owner of the Oregon Trail Quilt Co. and working hard to get everything ready for our upcoming Grand Opening, hopefully in February, 2011 in Medford, Oregon.  We are moving a previously established quilt shop to this new location with a fresh start, completely new look, new product lines, and a whole new theme.

Start making your lists for what you want in a quilt shop and any special items that you would like for us to carry.  I am open to suggestions!  I have owned 2 shops already, and cannot wait to open this one.  We are all about excellent customer service!  There will be new classes, new instructors, and new ideas.  We are not limited to quilting, but also will have a lot of other sewing project ideas to share with you.

Our fabrics are all from the high quality companies that you know and love such as Alexander Henry, Michael Miller, Blank, Island Batiks, Bali, Moda, RJR, Batik Textiles, P & B, Marcus, Benartex, Northcott, South Sea Imports, and many more!  We have many great notions, patterns, and books also!

The date and exact location will be announced very soon!  There is a lot of prep work, so my blog will keep you updated on where we are with that, then continue as the shop is up and running.

To date, I am preparing to close the current location and getting everything ready for a great moving sale!  This will be posted here and on CraigsList.  New items are being ordered for the opening, the new color scheme is selected, and the logo is at the print shop.  As soon as the papers are signed, the location will be announced.

Medford lost its only quilt shop last year (there are still a few retail fabric shops, and some nearby towns have quilt shops).  BUT, as we know, Medford needs a small, friendly, knowledgeable quilt shop here again!  Well, get ready, because we'll be opening soon!  Get your project ideas lined up and make your shopping lists!

More will be posted as we progress, at least every couple days!
Thanks for looking!
Debbie

  1. Well, the progress on the shop is coming along. The fixtures are being painted to get rid of the purple they currently are and become much more classy, yet comfortable and earthy color. We are moving from a cute, yet not catchy look. New fabrics are arriving weekly, and great new classes are being developed. Samples will be hung early to allow for finding just the right classes.

Our logo is a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail. This theme and the colors will be found throughout the new shop, but will not be overpowering. You will be greeted by a soothing atmosphere just right for browsing around for a while.

THe grand opening will follow the grand closing of the original shop, the Purple Pincushion Quilt Shop, currently in Grants Pass, Oregon. It has been a local quilter's staple for nearly 7 years, but its time has come, and it will be well remembered. We hope that all of our customers will join us at the new location in Medford, along with many new friends!

    Keep watching, more is coming!

  5. Well, this blog has been let to go for too long. I am going to faithfully add to my blog this year as my New Year's Resolution. I have been busy this year researching the reasons for so many quilt shops across the country closing their doors and finding ways to help them to stay open. For starters, everyone who sews and quilts should come in and support their local shops, and those along the way when they travel. Stop buying so much at national chains such as Walmart and Joann's. They may seem cheaper, but so are their fabrics... and you will never get the service, classes, knowledge, and fellowship that you will find at your local quilt shops. As far as non-fabric supplies, well, those chain stores do carry many quilt shop quality cutting mats, rotary supplies, and notions. But, do you want to support those chains to stay in business or your local merchants? Use a coupon, but get the rest by getting the best! You won't be sorry! Have fun, Happy New Year, and Happy Quilting!
